#Trending This Week - Multisensory Safaris, Themed Trails, Beauty Tourism, And Culinary-Driven Camping
Issue 232 • February 4, 2025
Travel will never be the same. As consumers of all ages and economic backgrounds continue to embrace travel, they also have a fierce commitment to wanting to explore in new and different ways. This means hotels, destinations, cruises, tour operators, and anyone else involved in the toursm industry simple can’t sit back and do things as they have always done them. Take for example THE EVOLUTION OF THE AFRICAN SAFARI. People are no longer interested in hopping in a vehicle and checking the Big Five off their list. They want to experience the continent in a deeper way. Somebody had the brilliant idea years ago to develop TRAIL TOURS TO PROMOTE LIKE-MINDED PRODUCTS at a destination, and that strategy continues to drive tourism as never before. Perhaps we can chalk it up to social media, but BEAUTY TOURISM IS THRIVING as people venture around the globe to both travel and save money on a variety of cosmetic procedures. CULINARY DRIVEN CAMPING IS BOOMING as people seek out the opportunity to see where their food comes from and immersive themselves more into the farm-to-table experience. And finally the editors at Conde Nast Traveler have compiled an interesting LIST OF 2025 TRAVEL TRENDS. Check it all out in our three-minute read below.
Travelers Are Embracing Multisensory Safaris
The days of hopping into a safari vehicle to race around and snap photos of the Big Five are dwindling. Today, the “multisensory safari” is where it’s at. Multisensory experiences engage multiple human senses simultaneously, aiming to create a profound, immersive, and memorable adventure. This might include Sound Safaris, Silent Walking Safaris with a Masaai Warrior, etc. Read more in Travel Weekly here.
Themed Trails Continue To Grow Tourism
Themed trails are everywhere these days. You can hit the Surry Sonker Trails of North Carolina to celebrate their local cobbler, follow along the “Branson Gravy Train” to compare all the biscuits and gravy offered in town, the famous Kentucky Bourbon Trail, Blues Trail, Craft Beer trails, and many, many others. By this time one would think thematic trails are over, but the reality is these themed trails work in drawing travelers to destinations that might have otherwise been overlooked. Beauty Tourism Is Hitting Its Stride
They are called “Beauty Voyagers.” The nickname refers to beauty conscious consumers who jet off around the world in search of exclusive beauty treatments they can’t find at home. In fact TripAdvisor reports in its 2025 Trendcast Report that mentions of skincare treatments in TripAdvisor forums have surged 87%. Read more in Time Out here.
How We Will Travel In 2025
How will we be traveling in 2025? According to the editors of one of the leading travel magazines, “sports fans will swap spectating for setting off on their own athletic adventures like pickleball vacations; the quest for longevity will evolve into something a lot more holistic; families will embark on summer-long sabbaticals; and oenophiles will forgo the more obvious spots for less crowded wine regions. We’ll be prolonging our adventures with considerate detours, indulging in our love of food in new and interesting places, and embracing off-board cruise and train experiences as a way of fully immersing ourselves in a destination.” Read more in Conde Nast Traveler here.
Culinary Driven Camping Is Booming
Though many associate camping with pre-packaged meals or processed snacks, a new wave of campgrounds on farms is redefining camping’s culinary experience. Wine enthusiasts, foodies, and eco-friendly travelers are looking to explore where their food comes from, taste local produce and dishes, and reconnect with the land, while also offering farms an alternate income source.
